Tris' C section saga!
OK! It was a "go" August 24th, 2011
Ride to the vet to see if we are "ready."
We are ready! Tristan is knocked out, hooked up
and then Dr. Lopate anesthetizes the Buddha
belly.
L: Dr. Lopate and R: Laurice
Between them they have probably done 1,000,000 c
sections!
The uterine horns are laid on Tris' belly.
One at a time the babies are taken out of their comfy watery home.
The very
first one was chocolate, so I go to know instantly that Tris carries the b color
gene!
We are wet, and full of fluid in our lungs and mouth and ears, etc.
We must
be roughed up and dried off!
The entire hospital was in on the action.
Everyone loves catching puppies.
Hemostats to clamp the cord.
Bulb to suck out liquids in the nose and throat.
Little brown brothers!
We got 6 boys and 1 girl! Perfect!
Laurice holds one of the 2 black and tans born.
A little oxygen is a good thing!
Staying cozy in a human hospital baby unit!
Brought back as excess baggage by
Dr. Caulkins in 1972 from
a hospital in Iowa! Fabulous story!
Brown baby cuddles the towels in the incubator.
Tristan must be monitored for the next 8 to 12 hours
while the anesthetic
wears off. Dan takes a turn while I take a shower.
It's dang hot today!
She starts to clean them around 9 PM, and didn't look back.
The pups were
tubed at the clinic so they were very strong
and aggressively nursing by the
time they went into the box.
Thursday morning: Tris finally pees at 9 AM! First time since
she went
into the clinic at 2 PM Wednesday.
She drinks like crazy and is back on her
food.
She's going to need those calories!
Congrats Tristan and Ivan!
and MOSTLY, thank you to:
Iwona of the Tasiemkova-Mafia kennels in Belgium for Mr. Ivan,
Sussie Due for
growing Tris up for me,
Mary Ellen for letting me use Huti those 2 1/2 years
ago,
and
the superb Dr. Lopate and crew of the Wilsonville Veterinary
Hospital.
