A bit about food: that delicious thing that keeps us alive.
Making food for puppies involves grinding.
Mommies are
supposed to vomit partially digested food for the pups
but I can't count on
that happening with any regularity.
SO... I buy 40# boxes of chicken necks and turn Mikel loose.
He loves to grind.
80 pounds of frozen chicken necks, and the grinder.
Close up of the necks.
You have to do it while it is still partially frozen in order
to refreeze it.
So, I pry it all apart as I go. It's usually a 2 day
adventure.
The grinder and the loaves.
Labelled and ready for the deep freeze.
We go through 1,
sometimes 2 of these a day.
When I get my rabbits butchered, I keep the rib cages and the
kidneys
for the dogs (Right and center.)
The rest is for humans only!
Such a delicacy!
The rabbit rib cages get finely ground and formed into balls
for
the tiniest babies to start their weaning. They *love* rabbit
meat.
A lot of work, well yes. But I think it's totally worth it.
